NFR (Event)

Here is the full schedule of events for the 2019 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.the NFR seven main events: tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, barrel racing and team roping.

NFR Bareback riding

Bareback riders endure more abuse, suffer more injuries and carry away more long-term damage than all other rodeo cowboys.Tim O’Connell, Caleb Bennett, and Clayton

Biglow are the three biggest names that are expected to compete for the world championship. This consists of a horseback cowboy using a bareback rigging as the primary

means of staying on top of the horse.

Steer wrestling

Speed and strength are the name of the game in steer wrestling. In fact, with a world record sitting at 2.4 seconds, steer wrestling is the quickest event in

rodeo. This is an extremely entertaining event. A steer is released into the arena and then a rider rides his horse into the arena just after the steer is released.

Undoubtedly, this is the most dangerous physical encounter that a cowboy experiences during the rodeo events.

Team roping

Team roping, the only true team event in ProRodeo, requires close cooperation and timing between two highly skilled ropers – a header and a heeler – and their horses.

The rider that ties the steer up by his head is known as the Header and the rider that ties the steer up by his feet is known as a Heeler.Team ripping includes two

riders- the header and the heeler. The header first through his lasso to catch the head of the steer while the heeler uses his lasso to tie down the rear legs of the

Saddle bronc riding

Saddle bronc riding is rodeo’s classic event, both a complement and contrast to the wilder spectacles of bareback riding and bull riding. The rider can only use one

hand to grip onto the horse and a smooth ride is a better score than a rough ride.In this event, however, the cowboy sits on a saddle while using one hand to hold on

to a thick rein that’s attached to the horse’s halter.

Calf roping

This event used to be called Calf Roping, because that’s what it is.Calf roping, also known as tie-down roping, is a rodeo event that features a calf and a rider

mounted on a horse.

Steer roping

As impressive as Cooper’s season money total is, the four-time world champion didn’t set out with a specific money goal for the season. The Weatherford, Texas, cowboy

added another to his resume, as he established the PRCA record for money earned in a season before the Nation Finals Steer Roping with $89,427. The previous record was

set in 1998 by Guy Allen with $87,927.

Bull riding

Rodeo competition, in the beginning, was a natural extension of the daily challenges cowboys confronted on the ranch – roping calves and breaking broncs into saddle

horses. The premise is simple, the rider has to stay on the bull for as long as he can and the one who stays on the longest wins. However, it has a higher level of

difficulty. He is the favorite to win and will be looking to win his 5th championship.

Barrel racing

Barrel racing is an extremely popular sport among women in the equestrian community. Take a look at these facts you should know.It is a very tough event where agility

and skills power over strength. The event ground is mapped with barrels (mainly water barrels) as three barrels make a triangular shape.

Miss Rodeo America

The Miss Rodeo America pageant is held in December of every year in conjunction with the National Finals Rodeo (NFR). The competition takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Reigning state rodeo queens from across America are eligible to compete for the title and are judged on their appearance, horsemanship, and personality. The winner receives over $20,000 in prizes, including a crown that fits on her cowboy hat, scholarships, Montana Silversmiths jewelry and belt buckles, Justin Boots and Wrangler apparel. She reigns for one year and is expected to travel to more than 120,000 miles during her reign. She also makes public appearances at schools and other venues to promote rodeo.[5] Miss Rodeo America was inaugurated in 1956 and the first winner was Marilyn Scott Freimark, who later became a rancher. Taylor McNair of Mississippi is the 2019 Miss Rodeo America. She is the third woman from her state to win the title.
